FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) – Jul 10, 2010 – Hamtramck, MI, July 10, 2010 – SMACC, Southern Michigan’s Arts and Creativity Conference, will be bringing together all manner of independent artist, crafter, performer, and filmmaker this July 24th and 25th at the Doubletree Hotel, Dearborn, in a show open to the public. This is the first event of its kind, showcasing independents in a way to provide both collaboration among the professionals and entertainment for the general audience, including thirty-two hours of continuous entertainment including a fashion show by Detroit’s own Laurette Designs, music by diverse artists including EPROM Colony, folk artist Tom Smith, and the experimental music of the Detroit Space Band. Artists and crafters of all types, from game designers to woodworkers to corsetieres will be present in an open arts and crafts exhibition designed to encourage networking and collaboration. Also, the Michigan Independent Director of the Year (MINDY) Award will be presented for the first time ever. In addition cash prizes will be awarded by popular ballot to the best table in the arts and crafts room and to the best performance or film.

Chief Business Officer Michael Marcus explains, “With this event, we put all manner of independent creatorship on an even playing field, encouraging networking and skill-sharing among those who need it most and building Michigan’s film industry from the ground up. Through the exhibitors, we also show Hollywood’s film companies that if they want to shoot in Michigan, all the talent they need is here—they don’t have to import anyone from California.”

Michael Hamersky’s ‘My Take’ On: Vampire Apocalypse

LINK

Excerpt:
So why blog about this project?  Well…It’s a project that is projected to be published in 2011 as a graphic novel.  It is based on Derek Gunn’s ‘Vampire Apocalypse’ series of novels. This promotional publication is a ‘Prologue’ in mini-comic format.  Plus it is from a company that already has another title in print, Elemental Fources.  Thus the reasons why I’ve elected to blog about this one today.

I would like to thank Michael for taking the time to blog about our project. I highly encourage you to follow him on Facebook, where his very active.

    New Artist on Vampire Apocalypse

Federico Combi notified me earlier this week that he could no longer continue on as artist for our Vampire Apocalypse graphic novel. His workload was getting to be too much and he was already way behind on our agreed schedule. We have mutually agreed to cancel the contract, and New Baby Productions will continue the project without him. I would like to wish Federico luck in his future projects.

With that, I would like to introduce Andy Dawe-Collins as the new artist. Andy is a local Michigan artist who I am very happy to be working with. His dedication, style, and love of horror will really help this project. Catch some of his work at http://www.comicspace.com/irish46/.

I’ll post some samples of Andy’s work on Vampire Apocalypse soon.
